Holding up boaters

THE man leaping off a balcony as reported in narrowboatworld yesterday had the effect of holding up boaters wanting to catch the tide.

The Ouse in York was closed between Lendal Bridge and Ouse Bridge on Sunday 24th by police searching for the body Frank Auffret writes.

Break in search

Boaters aiming to meet the afternoon tide at Naburn Lock were held up although police eventually agreed to let them proceed during a break in the search.

Although they left Naburn later than scheduled the neap tide meant there was still plenty of water at Selby for locking up.
