Support for canal project

THE Wey & Arun Canal Trust's funds recently increased by £600 thanks to a donation from the Guildford & Reading Branch of the Inland Waterways Association.

The cheque was handed over at Loxwood Lock by the Chairman and the Secretary of Inland Waterways Association Guildford & Reading, prior to a walk along the canal to see the next major restoration site at Southland Lock, led by the Trust's Project Manager Eric Walker.

Bramley Link

The money will be put towards the ‘Bramley Link', the project that aims to create a ‘green corridor' as a public amenity at the northern end of the canal, near its junction with the Wey. The Bramley Link will be a key element in years to come in rejoining the restored Wey & Arun Canal to the rest of the navigable inland waterways network.

Receiving the donation, Eric Walker told:

"The Guildford and Reading Branch of the Inland Waterways Association is special to the Wey & Arun Canal Trust, and the cheque would be put towards a study at Bramley"
