Trial of water buses

Published: Monday, 11 July 2011

A TRIAL will start this week of water buses for use at the Olympics, ferrying people from Limehouse Basin to the western entrance of the Olympic Park at Old Ford Lock on the Lee Navigation.

British Waterways, working with London Thames Gateway Development Corporation and the Olympic Delivery Authority hasĀ  improved the infrastructure to enable the water bus barges to unload passengers on the Lee Navigation.

Positive interest

Initial interest in the waterbus route is very positive, we are told, with visitors and businesses seeing the waterbus as an alternative option for travel to the Olympic Park. Obviously not a mass passenger transport system, but should appeal to those looking for a more leisurely and stress-free journey to the Olympic Park.
