Boater panicked on Trent

MANY boaters, cutting corners on the tidal Trent become grounded at a low tide, and simply wait for the tide to rise.

But one boater cutting the corner just before Keadby Lock  on Monday became grounded on a low tide, but panicked,  telephoning all and sundry, with firefighters and a rescue team from Immingham attending the stricken boat.

They simply told him to wait for the tide to rise, then his boat would free without any help whatsoever, which it did a couple of hours later. Something that can happen quite easily to those who cut corners, Alan Tilbury reminds us...
