Email: 'Cavalcade' blunder

Published: Monday, 02 May 2011

We visited the Little Venice Cavalcade on the Sunday. It was a lovely day and there was a really good turn-out of visitors.

Everything was busy except for the British Waterways visitor centre boat in the thick of it, which was closed all day. We sometimes pass this way and it is usually open during the weekdays, winter and summer, when of course there are no potential customers to bother the staff.

Sunday it was closed, a complete waste of good mooring space and a bad advertisement for waterways. Would it be a better idea for it to open it for shorter hours when it might be useful and pay staff at an increased rate for the inconvenience?

What exactly do British Waterway management not understand about customers and future customers paying their wages?
