River Great Ouse boater prosecuted

A BOATER on the River Great Ouse has been prosecuted for having no licence for his boat, and convicted by magistrates.

This is all part of the offensive by the Environment Agency to stamp down on unlicenced boats on its waters, with Derek Brown being fined £350 and costs of £115, in addition to having to obtain a licence should he intend to keep the boat on Environment Agency waters, Alan Tilbury reveals.

Once again, Waterways Team Leader, Candy Reed, warned:

"Failing to register a boat just does not pay—people risk being prosecuted and fined up to £1,000 for each offence, and ending up with a criminal record."
