OVER THE PAST TWO DAYS six navigations have been closed.

This includes Tuesday and Wednesday, Keith Gudgin reports.

The stoppages on Tuesday have already been reported.

Yesterday, Wednesday, the Calder & Hebble Navigation, Oxford Canal and Rochdale had stoppages.

SalterhebbleLockCalder & Hebble Navigation

It was the guillotine lock Salterhebble Bottom Lock 3 stuck in the upright position that stopped navigation.

A team have been to try to rectify the problem but were unable to.

A further attempt is to be made today.

Oxford Canal

Grants Lock 30 is out of action with problems with the  towpath side gate paddle and rod.

This too is being further investigated today.

Rochdale Canal

Little Clegg Swing Bridge 54A is closed to navigation due to a fault with the lock mechanism and the hydraulic hose that operates the swing bridge.

The required parts for the repair have now been received, but we are told the team is not scheduled to return to the site on until Thursday, 18th June to carry out the remaining works that need attention.
