THE CLOSURE OF THE OXFORD CANAL by the  damage to the offside bottom gate at Claydon lock 21 shows the continuing woes of that canal.

It brings the total of three stoppages in just over a week, Keith Gudgin reports.

Mill Lift Bridge

It was on the 7th of this month that Mill Lift Bridge (205) near Lower Heyford was stuck, closing the navigation, but this time was quickly attended to.

Then a week ago Grants Lock 30 was out of action with problems with the towpath side gate paddle and rod, that  was repaired five days later.

But it is more of a problem with Lock 21 that has damage to its offside bottom gate at Claydon Lock 21 on the Claydon Flight and has closed the navigation.

Team attending

We are only told that the team are attending to make safe and develop plan of repair.

It seems that when one problem is solved another one appears.
