THE NEW STAVELEY WATERSIDE BUILDING is still empty a year after completion.
With businesses wanting space that were rejected by Derbyshire County Council, though claiming tenants are due to move in very soon.
The building is by the Staveley Basin on the Chesterfield Canal with a prospective business wanting space for a fruit and veg shop modern farm shop being told they had to sell selective items but no food for immediate consumption so no milkshakes or ice cream—the things that would make profit.
Rent £1,000 a month
Then told the rent would be £1,000 a month, yet have a high street shop at £650, and so telling it would be very expensive.
Andrew Allison told the Derbyshire Times he asked about opening a spa business at the site and made a phone call to the council but was rejected straightaway, and did not ask for a meeting and pretty much dismissed it over a phone call.
It certainly has not lived up to its expectations that were announced when competed a year ago.
