AT 3pm THIS AFTERNOON (Monday) a swing bridge had to be closed as it was too hot for it to work.
Therefore it was not available for navigation, Keith Gudgin reports.
Extreme weather
This was the Micklethwaite Swing Bridge 199 on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, and are told that due to the extreme weather temperatures, unfortunately the swing bridge is currently inoperable. [Photograph by Pennine Waterways.]
The trust advise that the bridge will be back in operation once the temperature drop.
