IT WAS WAY BACK in late October that there was a 'pollution incident' of diesel on the Chesterfield Canal.
Yet the source has yet to be discovered nearly four months later, Keith Gudgin reports.
Canal & River Trust stated it was 'currently working closely with the Environment Agency to locate the source of the diesel'.
But it was admitted yesterday, Tuesday, that 'current containment methods will be kept in place as the Environment Agency are still carrying out their investigations to identify the source of the pollution.
Closed to navigation
So with booms and absorption pads around the diesel to prevent its spread from between Pudding Dyke Bridge and Dog Kennel Bridge, and the waterway is still closed to navigation'.
This particular waterway is very susceptible to closure by incidents of pollution as there was one in January and another in August of last year.
