FOR the third consecutive year Mercia Marina is supporting the of NSPCC's 'Walk for Children in Derbyshire '.

The charity urges the public to rally friends and family, encouraging them to participate in the 'Walk for Children in Derbyshire'.

Interested participants can easily register for the event by visiting nspcc.org, where they can sign up for a
walk near them.

Unite for a common cause

The NSPCC, a stalwart defender of childrens' well being during their darkest hours, continues its critical
mission by inviting families and friends nationwide to unite for a common cause. The challenge is simple
yet impactful: a 5k walk on the longest night of the year.

This collective effort aims to raise vital funds for the NSPCC and its indispensable Childline service, ensuring that counsellors are available to answer life-changing calls throughout the festive period, including Christmas Day, with Robert Neff, Partner and General Manager at Mercia Marina, telling:

“This will be the third year that Mercia Marina will be lighting up green in support of the  NSPCC’s  Christmas campaign and it is great to know that we’ll be joining other local landmarks in the East Midlands and across the country to help remind children and young people that there is help available, even on the darkest night of the year.”

Further charity success for Mercia Marina

As the free Santa’s Grotto drew to a close on December 17th, we were extremely proud and grateful for the 1000’s of food donations for the South Derbyshire CVS foodbank that visitors enjoying the Christmas lights display, free parking or meeting up with Santa himself kindly deposited on his sleigh to help those in need.

More than 800 free presents were handed out to children visiting Santa, but it didn’t mean parents went without as they took advantage of stress-free Christmas shopping enjoying the many seasonal offers
available.

food donations 1A terrific result

In addition, there were cash donations totalling £234.60. Overall, a terrific result to help families who are accessing food banks this Christmas, with Tony Preston Sales and Marketing Manager enthusing:

“Visitors' goodwill is truly remarkable. We were amazed at the volume of donations for our ‘Can for Christmas’ campaign. So many donations that it broke our sack truck! We had to do some heavy lifting to help Adrian Moore from CVS to get everything to his van so it could be taken to the food bank. It is truly heart-warming to see visitors enjoying Santa but just as much enjoying giving.

"The weather and the economy may not be feeling festive but the Christmas spirit is alive and well at Mercia. Thank you to all."
