Wigan Flight failure closes Leeds & Liverpool

WE HAVE really lost count of the number of times the Leeds & Liverpool Canal has been closed this year.

Though coronavirus took months out of being able to use the waterway, it still keeps ticking-off failures, this time Lock 73 on the Wigan Flight has failed, Keith Gudgin tells us.

No mention of 'damage'

Yesterday we are told it is an issue with an heel post, but this time no mention of 'damage' in an attempt to pass on the blame.

We are told a method of repair is being organised, but no intimation when the navigation will be open.  In the meantime the flight is locked-off with no access.
