THE only cygnet of a pair of swans on the Grand Union Canal has been shot dead.
The single cygnet out of seven eggs that were laid was discovered shot dead at King's Langley on the Grand Union Canal, Alan Tilbury reports.
Police investigating
The two weeks old bird had been killed by someone with an air rifle, as had other signets and ducks in the canal in the area, with the police actively investigating the many shootings.
A resident living near the waterway told the local newspaper that killing innocent birds as 'sport', as many do, should be made illegal.
