Plans for Northwich Swing Bridge

Published: Friday, 28 August 2009

THE plans for the proposed new Riversdale Swing Bridge over the Weaver in Northwich have now been published.

They will be on view to the public at the Salt Museum for a week from Tuesday 1st September, when the people will be able to express their views. The old bridge is pictured.

There has been controversy over the closing of the bridge by British Waterways, which stopped public access over the river, and the new bridge, at an estimated cost of £1.5 million should create a safe route for pedestrians and cyclists over the Weaver.

The new bridge is funded by the Big Lottery Fund and Cheshire West and Chester Council. The bridge is expected to be open by August next year.

Council staff will be on hand to answer any questions at varying times during the display of the plans.
