I have just read CaRT's statement regarding the Shakerstone Festival and welcome its statement that it has no intention to close the canal.

However I am still concerned that the new notice at bridge 46 which prohibits the discharge of grey water into the canal will, if enforced, have the same effect as I suspect that most narrowboats do exactly that and if complied with would only allow a very short visit unless they revert to the old 'bucket & chuck it' method which would no doubt upset the environmentalists just as much.

The CaRT statement does not refer to this restriction.
