A little unfair?

A CORONER has ordered Canal & River Trust to take action over a footbridge over the Leeds & Liverpool Canal at Skipton where a man slipped and suffered a fatal fall on the ice on the bridge.

Recording a verdict of accidental death of 68 years old Ian Martin, who had slipped on the stone steps of the bridge and struck his head, the coroner stated that he would be 'preparing a report to those responsible for the steps to inspect them and make repairs where appropriate and also to deal with the lighting' Alan Tilbury tells us.

Found at bottom

Ian Martin had slipped and fallen on the ice on the bridge and was discovered at the bottom.

The 200 years old stone steps were described as being of different depths and bowed in the middle through wear.

However, the Trust is responsible for literally hundreds of stone stepped bridges on its system, all worn over the many years of use and all have ice in freezing conditions, what is it expected to do?
