EU targets boaters again

THE European Union is again attempting to enforce regulations upon boaters in the use of diesel in boats, and Sam Bennett writes:

So the EU is trying again to ruin our inland boating industry.

Separate tanks

Allowing us to use red diesel for heating and generation providing we use a separate tank is no answer because the marinas etc. who supply diesel will not put in an extra fuel pump with all the associated pipework just to avoid us paying the tax.

Now is the time that all boaters who use diesel demand that the EU stops interfering with our lives.

Better off

We cannot expect any support from the farming community who also will loose their agricultural diesel because farmers will be able to reclaim all the tax, including that which they pay for fuel in their road vehicles, thus they will be better off!

Why is the taxable diesel available now on the canals so much dearer than from garages?

If we fail to make our views known now, the next demand will be emission regulation on our engines, impossible to be met by a large proportion of boats.
