CaRT tries to help stranded boats

THE Canal & River Trust has attempted to arrange craning for the stranded boats on the Slough Arm at High Line, to attend the Canal Cavalcade, but have been thwarted.

We've investigated craning the boats at High Line (and back in again afterwards) and it is really frustratingly, given the time-scales, it's not something we've been able to safely arrange in time for the Cavalcade, Fran Read of CaRT writes.

Abuzz with activity

This is disappointing as the sun is out and the pool at Little Venice is abuzz with activity. Needless to say, we're working hard to get the navigation open as quickly as possible and have found alternative moorings in the area for High Line boats who have been caught away from their moorings.

The response from the boaters affected has been fantastic—one boater said that they would hold their own Cavalcade!

Roger tells us that late this afternoon (Friday) the overhead power cables caused a problem, as the contractors could not get the crane to the site.
