Securing to piling

HAVING read David's article and particularly the mention of mooring pins being pulled out, I have a suggestion which worked well for me, writes Iain Powell.

I used rond anchors or bank anchors as they are sometimes called (photograph). They look like a fisherman pattern anchor with one of the flutes removed.

In 11 years, they only pulled out once; to be fair, I was testing them in dredgings piled up a few days before!
