EA target illegal anglers

THE Environment Agency is targeting its waterways in an attempt to catch illegal anglers who are fishing without licences.

The agency is also concerned about anglers fishing in the closed season without permits to do so, and have already targeted over 100 locations on its rivers, Alan Tilbury reveals.

Many caught

During the last offensive, many anglers were caught fishing without licences to do so, and so were issued with offence tickets, and this time it will be the same we are told, and any caught will almost certainly end up in court.

The enforcement team members are particularly concerned at people fishing in the closed season, and have promised that anyone so caught  fishing illegally will face prosecution and a hefty fine.

The offensive covers all counties and could strike anywhere.
