Email: University competition

RALPH'S University competition for new designs  is an excellent idea and could well be extended to including cost-effective ways of constructing locks or other level-changing devices (Falkirk Wheel was an expensive one-off).

If established, such a design could revitalise some of the restoration projects—and, who knows, completely new lines—where the major stumbling block is the construction of roads, especially motorways, since canal closure.

How can we help to get this competition off the ground? Perhaps contacting the Institute of Civil Engineers might be a start point?
