Near drowning prompts safety ladders

NOTTINGHAM City Council is to install safety ladders at Colwick Marina, where a boater nearly drowned.

As was reported in narrowboatworld, boater Ken Jackson slipped from his icy boat whilst attempting to adjust the chimney, and was saved by canoeist Richard Ramsdale.

Money set aside

A council spokesman stated that £9,000 had been set aside for the work, and they are  looking at the safety ladders that are available and how they have been installed at other marinas to decide the best option, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Alison Burton, Commodore of the Colwick Marina Boat Club, told that the club had been asking for ladders to be installed for the past two years.
