A chance to repair

WHILST the water level has been reduced on the Grand Union top pound at Tring, it would be a good chance to repair some of the lock gates, one of our contributors suggests.

Here's a picture of Lock 43 at Marsworth.  The timbers protecting the cill have all broken loose as has some of the retaining masonry. A major timber is lying submerged in the shallow water.

Save major repair

Now would be an ideal time to repair, to save a major repair later.
