Email: Tree management

Perhaps it is time for some concerted action to promote the idea I floated a  few months back.

Namely that the enabling legislation for Canal & River Trust should include imposing a duty on adjacent landowners to maintain and cut back trees and vegetation so as to keep a safe navigation.

This would mirror what happens on the road highways.

The result would be a major reduction in Canal & River Trust costs—not helped by issues over access to the off-side, although in most cases Canal & River Trust would still have a duty in respect of growth on the towpath, but not trees which overhand from adjoining properties.
