Council moves illegal moorers

SUCH is the number of complaints of illegal moorers on the Thames around Windsor and Maidenhead, that the local council has taken action and moved the boats on.

Windsor and Maidenhead Council responded to complaints from residents and visitors alike that many of the boats were an eyesore.

Unlicenced

As many are unlicenced, the council is working with the Environment Agency to have them removed, with the agency admitting that around 500 of the 28,000 boats on the river did not have licences.

The outcome is that visitors are now being charged £8 a day for moorings along the river.
