bosley locksBut has caused gate damage, Keith Gudgin reports.

The narrowboat that was stuck on the cill was quickly removed, but it was seen that a gate of Lock 12 had been damaged by the incident.

Could not be reopened

This means the flight could not be reopened as was expected, due to the damage that is preventing the gate from sealing.

Engineers will inspect the situation and any repairs will be carried out. In the meantime the flight of locks 1 to 12 are closed to navigation.
