Leeds & Liverpool Canal

Water levels between Lock 87 and Lock 89 on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal are replenishing well, we are told.

The local team continued allowing levels to recover throughout yesterday, Friday, with the navigation expected to resume today.

Rochdale Canal

Not so good on the Rochdale Canal however as navigation remains closed at Little Clegg Swing Bridge. This due to a fault with the lock mechanism and the hydraulic hose that operates the swing bridge.

Contractors have attended site and are currently developing a suitable method of repair.

In the meantime, assisted passages will be available to help boaters navigate through the Swing Bridge, available on Monday to Friday: 8:30am to 2:00pm. Ring 0303 040 4040 with at least 48 hours' notice.
