THE SOURCE OF THE POLLUTION incident between Pudding Dyke Bridge and Dog Kennel Bridge has still not been found.

This has resulted in a navigation stoppage, Keith Gudgin reports.

The Chesterfield Canal is very susceptible to pollution, as this latest incident of pollution occurred with Canal & River Trust and the Environment Agency both unable to trace its source.

Three incidents of pollution

But before this there was pollution in January and August with this current one dated as the 31st August, all last year.

Working with the agency the trust has had no option but to install booms and absorption pads around the diesel to prevent it spreading.

But they have little idea where the diesel originates, with the navigation remaining closed.
