KEADBY LOCK THAT CONNECTS with the tidal Trent is still closed to Navigation.
This was closed on Wednesday 28th January owing to an obstruction, Keith Gudgin reports.
In addition to the obstruction preventing the downstream lock gates from sealing there is another problem with an old decommissioned culvert that is leaking water into the lock.
Part of original structure
This culvert is understood to be part of the original structure of the lock and so is not shown on current drawings.
This means the lock will have to be dewatered to be able to make any repair that may be required.
It is of course closed to navigation and with the two faults it cannot be ascertained when it will be reopened.
