Collapsed culvert site being excavated today

THE collapsed culvert on the Staffs & Worcs by Lock 42 has now been investigated.

Resulting in its site being excavated today, Wednesday, to identify the extent of its collapse, Keith Gudgin reports.

Canal & River Trust tell that once this has been identified, it should be able to get a programme for repairs in place, with some idea of its repair promised for next Thursday 11th January.

Remaining stable

The sink hole associated with the culvert has been monitored over the past few days and found not to have collapsed further, it remaining stable.

The debris and the deposit has been cleared from the culvert, to enable further inspection and repairs.

The canal of course remains closed at the site below Acton Trussell.
