Proposed manned operation for Selby Swing Bridge

THE Canal & River Trust is considering a manned operation for the broken Selby Swing Bridge.

It seems this is not going to be a quick fix with a manned operation being considered, Keith Gudgin reports.

The swing bridge has failed twice recently after regularly failing as reported over the years, but the inspection yesterday, Wednesday, did not raise a solution.

Further discussions

The trust tells that the meeting with the hydraulic engineer, its contractors and AMCO, are still in further discussions, with the hope of an update next week.

The likelihood that this could be another long job, has prompted the possibility of occasional manned operation being considered.
