Body of drowned boater found

THE body of the boater who fell from his boat on the Lee & Stort on Wednesday evening has been found.

It was discovered floating on the surface of the waterway down-stream from his moored boat on Thursday noon and has been identified and next of kin informed.

He is a man understood to be in his thirties, with the police telling there are no suspicious circumstances concerning the death.

Temperature below freezing

On that particular evening the temperature had dropped in the capital to below freezing, so it is not yet known whether he died from the shock of hitting the freezing water or drowned.

But again it demonstrates the dangers of slippery surfaces of boats and water...
