Ought to know better

I WAS amazed to see in a web advert that the River Great Ouse had had a name change, writes T. Lang.

The advert for Hartford Marina, that obviously doesn't know what river it is on, now calls it the Great River Ouse!

Site should no better

What is even more surprising is that the web site carrying the advert too should know better, even allowing it to be named the Great River Ouse, and on its front page at that.

It was Victor who once pointed out that there are only two rivers in England that officially have the name 'river' in its title, the River Great Ouse being one of them, though all sites use the name 'river' on all of them, with just one exception, that does not, which is correct.
