IWA wants more boats on less frequented waterways

The Inland Waterways Association is challenging more people to explore the the country's '3,500 miles waterways network'.

This is according to the Owestry & Border Counties Advertiser with special emphasis on exploring the Montgomery Canal, that is rather short of boats, Alan Tilbury reports.

IWA Silver Propeller Challenge

The request has been brought about by the IWA Silver Propeller Challenge that encourages visits by all types of craft to the remoter spots of the network, the scheme encouraging boaters, canoeists and paddle boarders to make more use of the less-frequented waterways.

(We have to point out that officially there are just over 2,000 miles of waterways network, not 3,500 as claimed.)
