Now its the Coventry

THE Coventry Canal is the latest to be closed as the top gate of Lock 6 has become dislodged from its fixed position, so the lock had to be closed to navigation today (Friday).

The water will have to be drained-off so that an inspection can be made, and then an update will be given, Keith Gudgin tells us, adding:

"Is there no end to lock gates failing—if it's like this at this time in the season what's it going to be like at the end?"

Huddersfield Narrow

The 'leak' that closed the Huddersfield Narrow between locks 12E and 13E at Milnsbridge that occurred last Friday has still not been repaired.

It has been discovered that there is an hole in a wash wall, that will have to be clay filled, that will allow the canal to be re-opened, then later in the year grouting will take place.

It is hoped that the navigation will be open again on Monday 1st of June.
