Arson suspected in boat fire

POLICE suspect that arson is the cause of a fire in a narrowboat moored at Fountainbridge on the Union Canal in Scotland.

The boat, Barneyboy was completely gutted in a fire, with its owner, Celine Tessler, who was not on board at the time, made homeless, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Everything destroyed

All her belongings were destroyed in the fire, including of course her treasured memories of her life and her parents, being left with nothing.

Celine, who lost a leg in a motor cycle accident is however amazed at how the local boating community has rallied round with the intention of raising £1,000 to help her, but this quickly reached double this amount, and it is hoped that in the end enough can be raised to once again refit Barneyboy back to a state where it can again be lived in.

The boat was built during the Second World War and used to carry amunition along the waterways of Scotland.
