Stoppage required to teach staff how to use stop planks

BOATERS are asked to avoid Braunston flight and tunnel on the Grand Union for a day in November.

Canal & River Trust staff will be taught how to use stop planks on  the flight on the 30th of November.

Emergency

This is to allow staff to 'exercise the emergency installation' of stop planks at Lock 1, in case of the need to stop the water flow in the case of emergency.

This means the flight will be closed for navigation from 9am to approximately 2pm whilst this it taking place.

As there are works in progress in nearby Braunston Tunnel, boats are asked to also avoid this on that day.
