WE HAVE now been given the time it will take to clear the landslide that closed the Worcester & Birmingham Canal.

This is where the embankment was hit by Storm Babet on the 20th of October, bringing down soil, vegetation and even trees into the waterway by Shortwood Tunnel West Portal, Keith Gudgin reports.

Remains optimistic

Canal & River Trust states that it remains optimistic that it will all be cleared and the navigation reopened in three weeks, making that around the 8th of December.

It telling that the contractors are making good progress with several trees removed from the site.

Storm Babet caused a great deal of damage to various canals, with particularly bad damage at Leicester on the Leicester Section of the Grand Union.
