WRG 40th Anniversary Reunion

Published: Wednesday, 05 November 2014

THE Waterway Recovery Group will be holding its 40th Anniversary Big Bonfire Bash Reunion Weekend  7th to 9th November, working on the Chesterfield Canal.

This is expected to draw its members from all over the country, with over 100 of them expected for this special occasion.

Working

Some will be working at Staveley, but the bulk of them will be doing major scrub clearance and tree felling at Renishaw and Spinkhill. On the Sunday (9th) the Chesterfield Canal Trust will have its publicity trailer and the WRG its publicity stand at Renishaw. The picture shows members working on the new lock into the basin at Staveley.

The best place to go is the Derbyshire County Council  car park which is just east (towards the M1) of the Sitwell Arms—S21 3WF.

Here is a chance for canal enthusiasts to go along and thank the members of the Waterways Recovery Group for their unstinting efforts in slowly but surely restoring the Chesterfield Canal.
