Email: Barking dogs

Published: Monday, 27 October 2014

At the risk of upsetting dog owners I believe that the new dog law could be useful for boaters unlucky enough to be moored next to barking dogs.

I'm one of those, and before anyone suggests I move away from the noise, why should I as I like my particular mooring, for being in a particularly windy marina and using my boat it is fairly easy to manoeuvre when coming back in.

The only response I get from the owner when I ask if something can he done is the response 'he is doing his job', which I understand is letting him know when people are about, but which does not wash, he being amongst many others on the jetty. He is a live-aboard, but amongst many who only visit infrequently, unlike myself and one other (also fed up of the noise) there are no other frequent visitors.

But the dog barks at everything that makes any noise or movement. But all it needs is training. I am going to get a copy of the booklet that comes with the new law and see what can be done, as the marina owners are not concerned.
