Silly thing to do

MANY boaters have told us that they believe leaving a hire boat out on a canal and going home because of the weather is a silly thing to do.

I have to agree with Helen Spinkwater, writes Emma Payne, leaving your hire boat just because its raining is truly an awful thing to do. Boating is an outdoor sport , and you have to be prepared for all weathers!

Having spent three weeks on the canals this summer, we have been blessed with only three days of rain. The weather you are dealt is just down to luck, but leaving a boat on the towpath is downright childish behaviour.

Sodden England

I reckon the whole of England was sodden yesterday, writes Kevin McNiff, But what a fool to just leave a boat.

The weather and high cost of hiring does not do our canals any favours, but you even take a risk going to Florida in the hurricane season—August?!

Most of us hunkered down until the worst passed by!
