In time for the holidays

THE Leeds & Liverpool Canal is closed at Lock 64 at Johnson's Hill Flight, the bottom lock, and again it is a cill that needs repairing.

At present dewatering is in process, so the fault can be inspected and rectified, but providing there is no further damage, it is hoped to have the lock open by Sunday, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Now open (Saturday) in advance of date given.

Assisted passage

There are assisted passages for just two hours a day through  Three Rise Locks—16 to 21 on the same waterway, with staff in attendance from noon to 2pm daily.

No reason has been given for the closure for the remainder of the time.
