Email: Looking after boaters

Published: Monday, 28 July 2014

I can confirm what you said in your article about Mercia Marina, they do look after the boaters.

My partner and I moved from Sawley two years ago and were made very welcome at Mercia, even putting up with me wanting to change berths to make it easier to get our dog off, with Robert coming round to see that everything was okay. My partner is a DIY fanatic and it was the lack of facilities that persuaded him to leave Sawley, And he was forever coming to Midland Chandlers to get items that they no longer stocked at Sawley.

I was the lock slave so really appreciated not having to do those broad locks from Derwent Mouth anymore when we go for a cruise, and they help us ladies for there are the Tillerettes that is a scheme run by a lady steerer who shows us ladies the tricks of steering a boat, so we won't be lock slaves all the time!

There are now quite a number of us here from Sawley and I don't know of anyone who has gone back
