THE Department for Communities & Local Government's Fire Kills campaign, together with the help of the Boat Safety Scheme are once again organising Boat Fire Safety Week.

This will take place during Whitsun Bank Holiday week, with fire and rescue services participating including districts in London Fire Brigade, Greater Manchester FRS and West Midlands FRS as well as Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service that may have the single biggest population of pleasure craft for any fire authority in England and Wales.

Many others

There are many other fire authorities and individual fire stations participating and the Boat Safety Scheme has already distributed over 32,000 boat fire safety and the same number of carbon monoxide safety leaflets to marinas, harbours, ports, navigation authorities and fire services this month in anticipation of the interest.

It is all to increase boaters' understanding of fire and CO risks when they are aboard their boats.
