L&L opening delayed

THOUGH work on the stoppage caused by the fallen wall at Bridge 130 at Burnley (Leeds & Liverpool closed again) is progressing, its completion means the proposed opening this Friday will be delayed.

This itself however depends on third party contractors, but Canal & River Trust believes the waterway will be open by the 8th March, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Has to be drained

It was first thought that the wall could have been built without draining the canal, but this has been found not to be possible, so dams have had to be installed and the pound drained, so lengthening the work period.

Winding can be undertaken between bridges 138 and 129 on the West side of the stoppage and 130 and 131 on the East side.
