Drowned student on drugs and alcohol

THE student who was found in January drowned in the Bridgewater Canal in Manchester (Body found in canal) was  high on drugs and alcohol, and had been ejected from a club.

An inquest heard from Souvik Pal's friends that he had been taking drugs and drinking alcohol before attempting to get into the warehouse Project in Trafford, but was thrown out it was stated at the inquest.

Smuggling drugs

His friends stated that Souvik Pal had researched ways of smuggling drugs past security staff and their dogs, his friends told the inquest. A doorman explained that he ejected a man from the club matching the man's description after he came charging at him, suggesting he was on drugs. We are told he was not a dealer.

He was last seen in Trafford at 11pm on the night of Tuesday 22nd January, and his body was discovered in the Bridgewater Canal near Manchester United's Old Trafford football ground the following day.
