Stole money to buy narrowboat

A MAN who stole money from his ex wife's home by using a debit card in cash machines stole £30,000 over five years to pay for a narrowboat.

Bernard Young has been ordered to pay back the money or else he will be jailed for nine months, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Over 100 times

He had a key to his ex wife's house, and let himself in at night, picking up her brother's card, using it to withdraw cash, then later replacing it. It was stated he did this over 100 times.

It was not told at Liverpool Crown Court how he managed to get away with the theft for so long, by someone not realising so much money was missing. It was only when the owner of the card saw him actually take money from a machine that it all came to light.
