Major thefts from Sawley Marina

Published: Tuesday, 02 July 2013

YESTERDAY I was approached by boaters moored at Sawley Marina greatly concerned about thefts from the marina, writes Pam Pickett.

It seems that not only was the cruiser Lazy Days stolen from Sawley and then found stripped in the Flood Lock, some months ago, but outboard engines are now going missing, six at once I'm told from cruisers moored on Pier E.

Nervous owners

There are some very nervous owners it seems looking to move.  As you moor at Sawley you may be aware, but the boaters I spoke to seem to think Sawley is trying to keep this under its hat.

[Sawley was always considered to be a safe marina, other that the occasional thefts from the residents area by thieves breaking through the hedge, but this had ceased as the hedge filled out—Editor.]
