Extreme weather prevented opening

THOUGH the new Cropredy Marina was due to open at the start of the season, (Cropredy Marina delayed) the extreme weather over the past months has prevented this happening.

However, we are told work is now going well on the marina on the Oxford Canal situated just north of Banbury, and 'has generated a huge amount of interest from boating customers'.

Progressing well

Its owner, Tim Langer, tells us:

"Despite extreme weather delaying the work late last year and early this year, the contractors are back on site working long hours, and making every effort to have the marina open for mid-August. The basin has been drained, piling works are progressing well, jetties and services are being installed, and work has started on the car parks and access road.

"Since September 2012 we have held regular ‘Open Days'. All have been well attended and feedback from visitors has been extremely positive and encouraging with many reserving their moorings there and then. People love the marina's quiet rural setting and the fact the attractive village of Cropredy and its facilities are just a short walk away."

From the Thames

Tim pointed out that many of the customers reserving moorings are currently located on the Thames, and are choosing Cropredy because of its accessible location, competitive pricing and ease of access to the canal network throughout the year (unlike the Thames where boating has been severely restricted for the past few years due to high river levels).

Further open days are planned, and people are invited to visit. For information email  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
